Danko brand boilers: description, reviews and characteristics

The Ukrainian brand Danko is known primarily for gas boilers. A clear advantage is their low cost. The range also includes parapet gas boilers, installed in private houses or apartments where it is not possible to install a chimney.

In the article we will look at the best models of Danko gas boilers, how they behave in practice, what advantages and disadvantages the owners note, as well as what malfunctions may arise during the operation of boiler units in real conditions.

About company

is engaged in the production of heating equipment of various types - it produces gas, electric and solid fuel boilers, heaters and converters. The first products entered the market in 2002. The batch consisted of only 49 units of equipment. Today the company has about 850 thousand units of products sold. The production uses advanced equipment from foreign companies from Italy, Denmark, and Finland.

Specifications

The technical characteristics of the Danko gas boiler are distinguished by excellent performance. The devices are easy to repair and install, and their use does not cause any difficulties. The unit does not involve difficult connections, since the design has built-in automation, which greatly simplifies the entire process of setting up heating equipment. Modernized models have maximum efficiency.

The height of the Danko boiler has been slightly reduced. This allows the structure to be placed at the furniture level in the kitchen.

The company's developers are constantly improving technical parameters. New boilers boast better draft, allowing for better removal of combustion products. In addition, devices are now warmed up much faster, and less fuel is consumed. The heat exchanger is very reliable.

Ukrainian-made gas boilers are specially designed for use in domestic conditions. Judging by the reviews of the owners, cost and high quality are the main advantages of these boilers.

What is a single-circuit boiler

The device in question is a device that has one heat exchanger that heats water, antifreeze or air, that is, a coolant.
With the standard configuration received from the factory, it cannot be used for heating water and its further use for various household needs. It is this device that is called a single-circuit boiler. Such heating systems are aimed, first of all, at heating rooms by creating the necessary comfortable temperature in them.

The name is given by the type of device itself, that is, a single circuit passes through the structure through which the heated substance circulates. And if the factory equipment of the device does not allow you to immediately install the system with the connection of a boiler for hot water, then in the future you can do it yourself.

Circulation within the system itself occurs due to the fact that a special pump operates and there is a large difference in the temperature of the substance being heated. In order for all the necessary rooms inside the house to be heated evenly, circulation must proceed without disturbances.

If we consider the issue of additional heating, which can be carried out outside the circuit itself, then it can be done independently and without much effort. But when using a single heating circuit, if you also load it with heating a large volume of water in the boiler, then this situation will immediately have a negative impact on the heating operation. Since productivity will decrease and fuel consumption will increase.

Therefore, if the house has low hot water consumption, it certainly makes sense to connect a small boiler, but if a lot of water is used and it is used frequently, then such an expenditure of funds is quite unprofitable.

This type of device has its advantages:

  • These heating structures are equipped with a system that automatically monitors safety. It also sets the optimal parameters for the operating mode and consumption of the supplied fuel;
  • such systems are convenient to install throughout rooms; in order to heat them, this does not require a large team of workers or special equipment;
  • the period during which such a boiler can be operated is quite long if the installation is properly maintained;
  • modern units have the ability to use a sensor to respond to changes in the weather and automatically either heat up or switch to a more gentle mode of gas fuel consumption;
  • Since the design is quite easy to use, this also creates a certain comfort when using it.

How to choose?

Boilers are divided into the following types:

  • Double-circuit wall. Their main advantage is their low weight and compactness. Combustion chamber - any type. Ignition is electronic. The device is protected from water freezing and has automatic diagnostics of faults. Rated power 23.3 kW. The wall-mounted option can heat an area of up to 210 square meters. Consumes 2.76 cubic meters. gas per hour. The capacity of the membrane container is 6 liters.
  • Double-circuit floor. In them, the developers provide automatic safety equipment that stops the operation of the device in the absence of fuel, in case of insufficient thrust, or when the flame goes out. The power varies between 20-40 kW, and the heated area is 180-360 sq. m. A wide range of models is represented by modifications with heat exchangers made of cast iron or steel. The floor-standing version costs from 10 to 20,000 rubles, depending on the power and the automation used.
  • Parapet. Water heating is provided. There is a sealed chamber. Chimney version. The parapet version has piezo ignition and automatic protection. Burners are micro-flare. Heats 60-140 square meters.
  • Steel floor. Single or double circuit. Gas duct – vertical/horizontal. 8-24 kW. Area – 701-90 sq. m.
  • Cast iron floors. Open combustion chamber. Used in closed and open heating systems. Type of circulation – any, natural or forced. High heat transfer of cast iron heat exchanger. 16-50 kW. Area – 150-460 sq. m.

Solid fuel boilers for private homes

Of course, the most common fuel is gas, but there are a number of alternatives - for example, solid fuels such as wood, coal and coke.

There are two types of solid fuel devices:

  1. Universal. Quite popular and expensive designs that can operate on any type of solid fuel - and this greatly simplifies the process of preparing fuel for the boiler.
  2. Operating on a single type of fuel. Such equipment is not universal, but focusing on a specific type of fuel allows you to optimize the operation of the device and increase its efficiency.

The main disadvantage of solid fuel boilers is the inability to operate in autonomous mode. The problem is the need to constantly add fuel, which requires a considerable investment of time and effort. In addition, fuel must be stored somewhere - and this can cause additional complications if there is not much free space.

The lineup

The line is represented by five series:

  • Wall-mounted. Two modifications - 23 ZKE and 23 VKE. Double-circuit modifications. Each circuit has its own heat exchanger. For heating - copper, for hot water supply - steel.
  • Parapet. 8 modifications - 7, 10, 12.5 and 15.5 kW. They are compact. Single-circuit. No smoke. Can be installed in apartments with an area of 140 square meters. Heat exchanger – steel.
  • Steel. 22 models differ in power, number of circuits and location of chimneys.
  • Cast iron. All have an open chamber. Cast iron radiators last approximately 25 years.
  • With pump. 4 modifications. They work to heat the room and heat hot water. Steel heat exchangers. Related security systems.

Advantages and disadvantages of Danko gas boilers

Consumers agree that the main advantage of Danko brand products is their assembly using European technologies, which distinguishes them from their domestic counterparts. Other benefits include:

  • no noise;
  • reliable and safe automation;
  • copper coil that allows you to quickly heat water;
  • steel heat exchanger providing high heat transfer;
  • Warranty period – 3 years from the date of issue;
  • The average period of operation of cast iron boilers is about 25 years, the rest - about 15 years, respectively.

Danko products have much fewer disadvantages, but nevertheless they exist:

  • in models with horizontal flues there is a risk of the flame being extinguished by the wind;
  • the need to clean the chimney;
  • Wall-mounted boilers are less powerful than floor-standing boilers, but floor-standing boilers are louder.

The cost of Danko boilers depends on the chosen type of model and its power, as well as on the automation of one type or another.

Boiler design using the example of Danko 10/12

The model has a built-in water heater - it can be used to heat a private home and heat hot water. Appearance: rectangular cabinet. The facade is equipped with a door that closes and provides access to the elements responsible for ignition. Comprises:

  • burners;
  • heat exchanger;
  • gas automation;
  • decorative casing.

The automatic unit is responsible for supplying fuel to the burners - main and ignition, and for regulating the water temperature. Gas flow stops immediately if:

  • the flame went out;
  • the gas pressure has dropped below the permissible value;
  • there is no draft in the chimney;
  • The coolant temperature reached 90 °C.

Double-circuit modifications consist of structural elements:

  • chimney duct;
  • blower fan;
  • gas burner;
  • heat exchangers – primary and secondary;
  • hydraulic unit;
  • connecting fittings;
  • pump for forced water circulation;
  • expansion tank;
  • an automation unit that controls the units of the device.

A distinctive feature is that all components are produced by European companies. This is a plus in favor of the reliability and cost-effectiveness of Danko brand products.

Why doesn't the boiler start?

Often problems are shown as an error code on the display. All modern models Vaillant (“Valiant”), Baxi (“Baxi”), Ferroli (“Ferroli”) are equipped with a self-diagnosis system. Each brand has its own codes and their meanings. If the display does not show symbols, then you need to look for the cause of the problem yourself.

Problems with wall and floor units can be caused by external and internal factors.

External ones include:

  • Insufficient gas pressure in the main;
  • Chimney problems;
  • Power surges in the network;
  • Draft, low temperature in the room/boiler room.

Internal factors include breakdowns of electronics - sensors, wiring, as well as individual components - pump, heat exchanger.

Additional systems

In the design of gas heaters, the manufacturer has additionally provided:

  • water temperature sensors - triggered when boiling, turning off the system;
  • a protective block that shuts off the gas supply when the wick goes out;
  • a block that stops equipment operation in the absence of traction;
  • draft control unit - to adjust the flame;
  • multifaceted protection unit – turns off the device in case of any type of threat;
  • intelligent block - for distributing liquid flows.

What series and models are floor-standing

The range of Danko floor-standing boilers is wide and includes several series.

Household models include the following lines:

  • Danko SR or HRV. This is a series of single- and double-circuit domestic heating boilers with a 3 mm thick steel heat exchanger. Includes models with a power of 8, 10, 12, 15, 18, 20 and 24 kW. They are capable of heating houses with an area of 80 to 250 m2, which corresponds to the usual size of a private house.
  • Danko SN and VSN. The units of this series have increased power, ranging from 30-48 kW. The main design features are the same - single- and double-circuit gas boilers with a steel heat exchanger.

There is also a series of Danko gas boilers with a cast iron heat exchanger. They are more massive and heavier due to the dimensions of the cast iron container, and have increased efficiency.

The ability of cast iron to transfer heat is higher than that of steel, which makes boilers more efficient and powerful.

There is a series of boilers for use in large industrial or public premises, the power of which reaches 96 kW. They are capable of heating up to 900 m2, and when connected in a cascade, the capabilities of the units increase accordingly.

Installation

It is necessary to take into account the rules for installing gas equipment:

  • The power is selected according to the heating.
  • There must be at least 25 cm between the housing installed on a fire-resistant horizontal platform and a non-combustible wall.
  • The device can be installed near fire-resistant walls if they are sheathed with steel sheets.
  • The width of the passage in front of the facade is from 1 m.
  • To improve water circulation, the installation should be lower than the level of heating devices.
  • The expansion tank is located at the very top of the system.
  • The minimum length of the chimney is 5 m.
  • If the chimney is located outside, it must be insulated.
  • The diameter of the smoke outlet must exceed the diameter of the smoke outlet pipe.
  • At the junction of the boiler and the chimney, it is necessary to seal it with a solution of cement or clay.

Tatarenko Inna Igorevna

Due to moving to a new house, we needed to change the boiler.

I wanted to buy a wall one. This is what was important to me. And I also didn’t want to buy a cheap wall-mounted boiler, but then overpay for fuel consumption. Of course, reviews and discussions about such boilers, which I found on a variety of forums, amazed me with their advantages, but for myself I chose several manufacturing companies, among which was a wall-mounted boiler.

The modern market provides a large selection of goods and services. And every time you are faced with which manufacturer to choose. It would seem that it makes no difference, because a car is a car, an iron is an iron. But when you come to the store, they offer you the same product in different versions. This is where the problem arises - “What to choose?!”

requirements

1. single-circuit

2. there is a chimney (from an old “Soviet” boiler), so if you can connect a new boiler to an old house flue, then a chimney is better, they seem to be cheaper)

3. so that it works depending on the temperature in the room (you could set the temperature to whatever you want, if we are leaving for several days, set the minimum to non-freezing)

4. Now the old boiler works with batteries using natural circulation. however, the circulation is poor, the house at minus 20 with the boiler at maximum warmed up to 16 degrees and that’s it. But with not such severe frosts everything was fine. I would like to install it with a pump, it saves gas consumption, but there are power outages for 8-12 hours. There hasn't been anything else yet, but anything can happen. Are there boilers in which the pumps can be turned off (during a power outage) and it would continue to operate on natural circulation?

5. I don’t know whether it’s wall-mounted or floor-mounted, they say floor-mounted ones are more reliable and durable

6. room area 100 sq. m.

7. price – the lowest, but not at the expense of quality and reliability. Foreign boilers of this type start from 4000 UAH. Domestic from 2000 UAH. Is there anything more or less suitable among domestic boilers? Which brands are worth considering and which ones are definitely not?

Advantages: Closed combustion chamber Can be installed in an apartment Takes up little space Has a water heating function (DHW) Works well at low gas pressure.

Feedback: More than a year ago, we were concerned about installing individual heating in the apartment instead of central heating, since it was turned on late and turned off early - as a result, the whole family froze in early spring and mid-autumn. Since there wasn’t a lot of money at that time, it took a long time to choose a domestic boiler (European ones were almost 2 times more expensive) and eventually settled on this Danko wall-mounted boiler: https://finistd.ru/for-buyers/product-catalog/wall -hung-boilers-danko-23-kw We have this boiler... What problems happen?

The simplicity of Danko's design allows its owners to carry out minor repair work on their own. One of the most common problems is the burner blowing out. This is especially common in strong winds. Usually no fault is found, the wind is the culprit of the problem, but it is better to check the following points:

  • Is there a check valve installed in the chimney? If not, then there will be no reverse thrust, which is why attenuation occurs.
  • If the chimney is installed incorrectly, it becomes clogged with soot and other combustion products - it needs to be cleaned.

It happens that before the attenuation, extraneous noise is heard or increased fuel consumption is observed - this may indicate a failure of the controller. The task is to repair or replace a spare part.

Important! If you don’t want to deal with flame extinction, choose not a single-circuit, but a double-circuit boiler - wall-mounted or floor-standing. 2-circuit models do not have such disadvantages.

Another common problem is the pilot light going out. It goes out due to the activation of the thermostat, which shuts off the gas supply if the burner does not heat up to the desired temperature.

Possible problems with the boiler

Frequent questions from users regarding malfunctions of this Ukrainian equipment include the following:

  1. Why does the Danko gas boiler blow out?
  2. Why does the unit go out?
  3. What causes high gas consumption?

If we summarize the practical experience of the owners and take into account the opinions of experts, we can make a small list of possible causes of these problems:

  1. Gas line failures (gas is supplied unevenly).
  2. Problems with the chimney (most likely, soot and soot have accumulated on the inner walls, which impede the proper removal of combustion products).
  3. Possible damage to any structural elements. For example, a malfunction of the ventilation device, which does not supply air flow to the combustion chamber.
  4. Electrical supply problems that directly affect the operation of boiler equipment. In other words, interruptions in the functioning of the circulation pump or blower fan, which affects poor heating of the room.
  5. There is no valve in the smoke structure, this does not allow the reverse draft to work normally, as a result - the system blows out and attenuates.

Experts recommend thoroughly cleaning the chimney of deposits.

How to light a Danko gas boiler?

Light the boiler using a semi-automatic method in stages:

  1. The mechanical regulator is brought to its extreme position.
  2. Press the wheel down for 5-6 seconds. Gas is supplied to the burner.
  3. Ignition occurs using a piezoelectric element.
  4. After igniting the ignition burner device, continue to hold the regulator in the down position for approximately 5-10 seconds. If, after lowering the wheel, the igniter goes out, the procedure begins again. The burner has a sensor that records the temperature on the body. If the burner device is not heated sufficiently, the gas supply valve is not opened.

Basic faults

The most common malfunctions of Danko gas boilers, experts and ordinary users include problems with the burner and gas consumption.

Cases of flame attenuation (failure), characteristic of boilers with an atmospheric burner, are often noted. In addition, the injectors often become clogged with soot, soot and other combustion products. Excessive gas consumption occurs due to the appearance of a layer of scale in the primary heat exchanger.

It acts as a thermal insulator, reducing the efficiency of heat transfer. The user notices that the coolant temperature has dropped and increases the flame burning mode.

This causes the heating of the outer surface of the heat exchanger to become stronger, which causes rapid failure of the unit.

The solution to the problem is the use of softening water filters (as a preventive measure) and periodic washing of the heat exchanger, for which you need to invite a technician from the service center.

IMPORTANT! Attempts to independently solve any problems can cause boilers to fail. In addition, interference with the design of boilers becomes the reason for termination of the warranty agreement
