I have already presented a comparative review of various heating stoves, which, as practice shows, are in the most active demand among Russian consumers. However, individual designs of furnace devices require additional review. And dialogue with the consumer. This is the domestic Breneran stove - there is a special interest in it. You can read more about its structure here, and also watch the video. In this article I want to focus not so much on the advantages of the stove (they will tell you about them in advertising!), but on some of the nuances that real consumers themselves pay attention to.
Russian-made oven ↑
Breneran belongs to long-burning convection ovens
In fact, this stove can only conditionally be considered our own domestic development. Because it is an almost complete copy of the Canadian popular Buleryan stove. But nonetheless…
So, a few words about “Breneran”. And first, about ovens of this type - convection ovens.
The vast majority of modern metal stoves offered on the market have the same principle. Almost all of these devices are convection. Double-hull: inside there is a firebox, often with an afterburner chamber. Flue gases exit into a special smoke pipe at the rear. This makes combustion easier to control by limiting the air flow. The famous Russian stove is built on this principle.
Do-it-yourself Buleryan stove
The design of Buleryan stoves is quite complex. To make a heating stove, you need a very good welder with golden hands: in the factory version, the combustion chamber has no seams and therefore lasts a long time. When making it yourself, metal plates are welded into the spaces between the curved pipes. (By the way, this is how you can distinguish a homemade stove from a factory stove - by the presence of seams in the firebox).
Drawing of the Buleryan stove
Since burning fuel (logs, shavings, briquettes, etc.) lies on these seams, they burn out quite quickly. This is the main disadvantage of home-made “Buleryan” stoves. If you weld it yourself, it may be worth it, but if you have to pay for the services of a welder, then you need to think carefully. Buleryan stoves do not cost very much, in any case, it is problematic to find an analogue with similar performance at the same price, but their reviews, reliability and reputation are among the best. For those who have decided to make the Buleryan stove with their own hands, watch the video.
If you have not yet decided which stove to install in your bathhouse, metal or brick, read the information about brick stoves by Igor Kuznetsov. It is Kuznetsov’s stoves that allow you to get the steam that should be in a real Russian bathhouse.
A unifying collector could improve the situation ↑
Heating of the room occurs to a large extent due to the radiation of heat from the surface of the stove. So if the stove is located in an insulated room, and the neighboring ones are heated by supplying warm air through pipes, the heat loss will be quite noticeable. On this basis, experts advise that the first step is to put a special casing on the stove, create a connecting manifold, and only then separate the pipes from it. There are no such oven options in serial production; they are made to order, but this is also not a cheap pleasure.
How to remove condensation ↑
There is another known problem that is associated with the operation of Breneran. Its smoke pipe, as you know, is located on the wall of the stove at the back. A tee is mounted here - a chimney pipe is connected to it. At the bottom there is a glass plug for condensate. This design does not have the required tightness. And this is a problem, because condensation inevitably and steadily enters the air, which is not good. Some craftsmen adapt their own solutions, making sealed containers to collect condensate, while others remove it from the room using pipe devices. In short, we have to innovate as best we can, because the market, alas, does not offer ready-made solutions.
"Aqua-Breneran" ↑
Breneran stoves are known in several standard sizes, depending on the volume of the premises. To connect the water circuit, a model called “Aqua-Breneran” is offered. The disadvantage of this model can be considered the presence of a so-called “cold core”, which further cools the flue gases, which leads to worse draft in the pipe, promoting even more intense condensation formation. “Aqua-Breneran” needs to be heated more intensively. Consequently, the duration of operation of the furnace on one load of fuel is shorter.
The stove is good for a summer house or as an addition to a brick stove ↑
I like the stove - it’s scientifically made. It is good, of course, primarily for the dacha, garage or greenhouse. I wouldn’t put one of these in the house, except perhaps next to the brick one as an additional one. In general, it’s a big plus for the inventors of this design.
These are the reviews about the stove, friends. Different, as we see. It’s understandable - nothing is perfect in the world. And if you have something to say about this stove, please send information about your experience.
bullshit your Breneran is aqua. I worked for 2 winters and the back wall burned out. Now the door is burning out. And in 2013 it cost 25,000 rubles. One stack of firewood is enough for 4 hours. ……now we need to hire a welder.
I bought a Breneran stove for a sauna. In operation for 3 years. It warms well, even with a reserve. But there are two big disadvantages. Which turns all the pros into cons. First, the oven gets clogged and needs to be cleaned once every six months. But cleaning it completely is still a problem. Because there are no hatches or doors for this. There is one hole at the top. But through it, there is no way to get under the flame arrester. You need to be very clever, using a system of cables, with a rag tied to the cable, you can clean it, but it is very inconvenient. You will scratch all your hands on the hole in the heater. Second big minus. The flame arrester is made of thin steel. And it burned out after 3 years of operation. Because of this, the fire flies straight into the chimney? Instead of a bathhouse, you heat the street. The main function of the stove to heat the bath is not fulfilled. You can throw it away. In fact, its service life is 3 years. I don't recommend buying.
Installation
When choosing a location to install the stove, consider the following:
- The distance to flammable materials must be at least 1 meter. If a wooden wall is covered with a 25mm layer of plaster, the minimum distance to the stove is 80cm.
- When installing a sauna stove through the wall (for example, a firebox in a dressing room, a heater in a steam room), the opening in the wall is lined with non-combustible material.
- The floor around the stove in the danger zone - 120 cm - must be non-flammable. The best option is a brick foundation or an iron foundation. You can lay the floor under the stove and around it with heat-resistant tiles (if the floor is wooden, you may need additional thermal insulation laid under the tiles). It is also possible to install the stove on a floor screen.
For the normal functioning of Buleryan stoves, you need to make a chimney in compliance with the conditions. So the chimney must have high anti-corrosion resistance and withstand elevated temperatures. Only stainless steel chimneys meet these requirements. But these are not all the requirements - to ensure good traction, it is necessary that the inner surface of the pipe be smooth, without roughness. A smooth surface will reduce the amount of condensation; on a smooth surface less soot accumulates. In attics or other unheated rooms through which the chimney will pass, it must be wrapped in heat-insulating materials. The best option would be to use sandwich pipes, which do not require additional insulation. The places where the chimney passes through the ceiling and roof must be equipped with special passages that ensure fire safety.
Metal stoves must be installed only on a fireproof surface
When planning a chimney for your Buleryan stove for a bathhouse, keep in mind that horizontal sections are undesirable. In extreme cases, there may be one horizontal section up to 1 meter long. If you really can’t do without it, place a tee in the shape of the letter “T” at the turning point, with a plug installed at the bottom of it. Soot and condensation will more often accumulate at the turning point. By removing this plug, you can clean the chimney without any problems.
Breneran gas generator boiler: its advantages and disadvantages
Breneran heating equipment can be used for heating saunas, garages and industrial premises, as well as residential buildings. Reviews about these stoves are usually positive and confirm their stated characteristics.
The advantages of Breneran furnaces are that they are economical, compact and easy to maintain.
Advantages of Breneran stoves:
- Autonomy of the device;
- Ability to work on any solid fuel;
- Cost-effective – the oven can operate for 12 hours on one load;
- High efficiency, which can reach 80%;
- Compact dimensions;
- Simplicity and ease of maintenance;
- Uniform heat distribution throughout the room.
As for the disadvantages, they are related to the structure of this equipment. Since the oven chamber is open, a specific smell appears in the room and the air dries out. And in addition to everything, condensation forms on the pipes.
As for the Breneran-Aquaten stove, which has a water circuit, it “can” work in both open and closed heating systems. It can be used simultaneously with cast iron radiators without converting the system to plastic. True, such a stove does not look very attractive and it is better not to combine it with modern aluminum radiators.
Design features and operating principle
The Breneran stove was developed by Canadian engineers. The popular slow-burning induction tube air boiler was used as the basis. In simple language, this device is called a heater oven.
A blower shaped like a pipe is installed on the large and sealed door. This device also has a special throttle valve, which is used to regulate power. In most cases, the handle is equipped with a special scale on which the resulting temperature is indicated. This is very convenient for monitoring the performance of the machine.
The throttle valve can be closed at any time if you need to urgently turn off the stove. The large firebox is equipped with curved walls. Two-thirds of the firebox contains batteries of pipes coming from the heat exchanger. This allows you to get an air return of 70%. Another 10% spreads over the welded body.
At the bottom of the equipment there is a four-millimeter grate made of cast iron. A partition is also connected to the firebox, which does not reach the front wall by 1/4 of the length of the entire firebox.
The partitions are equipped with special holes with a set diameter. Air for afterburning comes from the combustion chamber. A special partition is installed on top, designed to enclose the space; as a result, an afterburning chamber is formed if the work is carried out in smoldering mode.
The Breneran stove is equipped with a special smoke choke (gate), with which you can change the combustion modes. The chimney diameter is equal to or greater than approximately 10 or 20% of the blower pipe.
Breneran stove drawing
The equipment is also equipped with an economizer - a device that can be used to heat the air with residual heat. But in this furnace, the economizer serves a different purpose. The flue gases burn out there, forming a flame jump.
The operating principle is based, as in any furnace, on the combustion of certain materials. To quickly warm up the room, you must put any fast-burning fuel in the stove. You can even use cardboard or paper.
The throttle will need to be opened fully and the fuel ignited. After that it closes. Approximately 6 cubic meters of air per minute come out of the four-pipe batteries, which heats up to 140 degrees. Thus, the room begins to warm up at an accelerated rate.
The accelerating filling must be ensured so that it burns down to the coals approximately 4 minutes before the end of heating. Here you need to practice to gain some experience. Sometimes the door has heat-resistant glass, and it is possible to observe the combustion process. A blower is also used for this purpose - you need to look into it periodically.
Once the coals are formed, large logs are placed on them. It is important that they are as large as possible. You can even use just one log, but it must fit entirely into the firebox. After this, you need to close the blower throttle to the desired position, and the gate closes completely until it stops. That's about three quarters.
The buller is installed in smoldering mode with partial gasification. The heated air will begin to come out at a temperature of about 70 degrees, and the body of the furnace will cool down to 50 degrees. Thus, even if you touch the operating equipment, you will not get seriously burned. And this is one of the advantages of the Breneran stove.
Efficient gas generator furnace Breneran: model range
Breneran devices are quite diverse and can offer the consumer several directions in which the equipment is manufactured. They differ in design features, but their operating principle is the same.
Breneran models:
- A gas generator stove is the most common type of Breneran product. These can be either simple models designed to heat a room, or with a hob on which you can cook food.
- Aqua and Aquaten stoves with a water circuit - their peculiarity is heating by moving the heated coolant. The boiler is connected to the pipes, and the liquid located there is heated, after which it is supplied to the radiators.
- Special bath equipment that can work both for a sauna and simply create wet steam. As a rule, such sauna stoves are equipped with special compartments for stones.
- Fireplaces that have a very attractive appearance and operate on any solid, but always dry fuel.
Of course, for heating a private house or cottage, the Breneran or Breneran-Aquaten gas generator boilers are best suited.
What is buleryan?
The relatively new device is called differently - buleryan, bulerian, buller or breneran. This is not an ordinary stove, which was invented in the 1970s, and immediately became a leader in two “categories” - efficiency and productivity. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then, but even now Buleryan has no serious competitors-stoves. If we talk about appearance, many compare this heating device to a potbelly stove, but with an unusual design.
You can be convinced that they are right just by glancing at photographs of a strange, unusual, unique design. Canada is traditionally considered to be the birthplace of the device, but this is not true. It was invented by the American Eric Darnell. He lived in Vermont, but right on the northern border. For some reason, production was established in cold Canada. The future Buleryan, which was then called “Free Flow,” was intended for heating residential and non-residential premises.
The Canadian device is designed to use solid fuel - firewood, but can also work on other types of fuel - compressed wood waste, brushwood or coal. However, the manufacturers of these devices prohibit the use of the latter type. The reason is the risk of destruction of the steel structure, since this fuel requires high temperatures (800-900°) for combustion.
Despite the comparative simplicity of the device, buleryans are characterized by high efficiency. This same relative simplicity of design makes it possible not to buy a heating unit, but to first try to make it yourself.
High-quality Breneran Aquaten stove and its structure
In order to be able to heat not only the space around the stoves, but also the entire room, a water circuit is built into the heating equipment with an operating principle similar to central heating. It looks like an ordinary coil with liquid heated inside. It then spreads through pipes throughout the house and heats it up.
You can familiarize yourself with the design of the Breneran Aquaten stove yourself using the Internet
The body of this furnace is made of steel and treated with heat-resistant enamel, and of :
- Two chambers – the lower one for fuel and the upper one – for afterburning the gas released during combustion;
- Two injection manifolds located on the sides - it is through them that water enters, is heated and exits;
- Two power regulators installed in the chimney and on the door.
Depending on the equipment models, stoves may have different chimneys, volumes, and parameters.
If the stove is used for a closed heating system, then for its operation a circulation pump, safety valve, air vent, pressure gauge and expansion tank are also purchased.
By the way, Breneran-Aquaten stoves operate only on solid fuel. But it does not use coke or coal.
For high-quality and efficient operation of such a stove, you need to completely fill it with fuel, and then one fill will be enough for 8-10 hours.
Dacha all year round!
Hi all! Today my review is dedicated to the stove Breneran (Buleryan) AOT-06 type 00 stove with one burner.
We decided to buy a stove for the dacha so that we could come to the dacha all year round. I chose and chose, then settled on the Breneran (Buleryan) brand, since there were the least number of negative reviews.
We arrived at the stoves and fireplaces store, the stove looked very impressive, I liked it! We bought a stove (about 11 tr) + all the pipes (the same amount came out).
We edited it ourselves, YouTube and Google, as they say, help!!
The design of the stove is made in such a way that the pipes from below can absorb cold air, and heating it, ensure air circulation throughout the room. The stove heats the house quite quickly. The stove burns wood for a long time, that is, you only need to add firewood once every 6 hours (as the manufacturer claims, it’s certainly not enough for 8-10 hours). But compared to the “potbelly stove”, which needs to be refilled every 2 hours, this is simply paradise!
Now about the area for which the stove is designed. It is stated for a room volume of 100 m³.
At first, our stove was located in a room of about 41 m³, it warmed up the room very quickly, even in frosty weather of -25 degrees it was possible to walk around half-naked. But when the stove reached its maximum temperature, it was difficult to stay in the room.
At the moment, the stove is in a room of about 72 m³, of course it takes a little longer to warm up, but literally after a couple of hours the whole room warms up quite evenly, we run around barefoot and in T-shirts. The heater would definitely not be able to cope with such a volume.
Regarding the stove, I personally tried to cook something on the stove, but somehow it didn’t work out for me, it seemed a bit long to me, and I definitely won’t stand over the stove and wait! Although in the future I’ll try to cook something else in a cauldron, I might like it :) At the moment, water is heated on the stove, a bucket of water heats up quickly enough, and always finds use in everyday life!
And the savings have not been canceled; energy costs are reduced significantly.
No cons as such were found. Of course, there are nuances associated with the stove, let’s say you are going to some kind of buffet, but in the house with the stove there is still the smell of wood, so things may also smell a little like wood. But here it is important to differentiate between your social status, your leisure time, etc.
Pros : Good furnace efficiency; Quickly heats up the room; Adding firewood every 6 hours; Made of steel; Availability of a comforter; Saves energy costs.
Cons : Requires quite a lot of space to install.
Result : We are very pleased with the stove, we have never regretted the money spent. In operation for about 4 years. I recommend to buy!
Heating stove Breneran Aquaten: reviews of owners and types of models
Breneran-Aquaten stoves are distinguished by their diversity and each consumer can choose exactly what he needs.
The most common models are:
- AOTV-6 is a lightweight and compact stove that can heat a room up to 100 cubic meters. cm. One tab can burn for 8 hours. Made in black and should only be placed near the wall. The cheapest model, as it does not have any additional functions.
- AOTV-11 - can heat a room of 200 cubic meters. cm. Burns for 10 hours on one burnt. A little more expensive than the previous one.
- AOTV-14 is a more powerful model. Heats an area of 400 cubic meters. cm. One firebox is enough for 10 hours.
- AOTV-16 is a large and heavy stove. But at the same time, it can burn for almost 12 hours and is capable of heating a room of up to 600 cubic meters. cm.
- AOTV-19 is the most powerful and efficient stove. It can also burn for 12 hours and efficiently heat a room of up to 1000 cubic meters. see The most expensive boiler in this series.
When choosing a stove, you should pay attention to its characteristics: to heat a small house, you do not need to buy an expensive and powerful boiler.
Opinions of Breneran-Aquaten stove owners:
- Kirill. I bought a Breneran stove for my dacha. It suited me perfectly in terms of price and power. There were no problems with the installation. I just had to tinker a little with the chimney pipe. After I turned on the stove for the first time, a specific smell appeared, but then it disappeared and I didn’t feel anything like that anymore. It takes less than an hour to ignite and heats well. I'm happy.
- Katerina. My husband and I bought a Breneran-Aquaten stove for our wooden house. It was easily connected to the pipes and began to be used. I liked that the boiler turned out to be “omnivorous”. We even used the remains of old furniture. The main thing is that the material is dry. I didn't like the appearance of condensation. It’s bad that there is no special container to collect this liquid.
- Andrey. Breneran purchased a stove for his workshop and lined it with sheets of iron just in case to prevent a fire. I'm happy with everything, although at first there was a lot of soot in the chimney. I had to clean it very often. When I started using dry firewood, the problem practically disappeared.
Review of Breneran furnaces with a water circuit
Long-burning gas generator stoves have gained great popularity in countries with harsh climates, where temperatures below zero degrees remain for several months. Inexpensive, reliable and economical. And if such a stove also has a built-in water circuit, then it becomes indispensable in many ways. After all, it can be used both for heating air in a residential or industrial premises, and for heating a house, cottage or garage.
Let's look at the main types of long-burning stoves with a water circuit presented on the Russian market, using the example of the Breneran-Aquaten or "Aqua-Breneran" stoves, which have different reviews from owners and stove makers. We will also consider their technical characteristics, operating principle, model range and prices.
This is probably the most famous and popular oven of this type. Its prototype was taken as a basis - this is the Breneran (Buleryan) stove. Then the engineers modified it somewhat and, by installing a heat exchanger in it, made it possible to use it not only to heat the surrounding air, but also to heat the coolant in the heating system.
Construction of the Breneran-Aquaten furnace (Fig. 1)
The stove body is welded from steel and covered with heat-resistant black enamel. There are two combustion chambers inside this furnace: upper and lower. In the lower chamber, the process of producing gases from solid fuel occurs, and in the upper chamber, the afterburning of these gases occurs, followed by heat generation.
There are 2 manifolds with built-in injectors on the sides. To adjust the power and operating mode, two dampers are installed on the stove: on the front of the door (4 - Fig. 1) and on the rear chimney pipe (3.5 - Fig. 1). For supplying and discharging coolant, there are two threaded manifolds on the unit body (1,2 - Fig. 1). The diameter of the chimney can be different, depending on the type of Aqua-Breneran: from 120 to 180 mm.
AOTV Breneran-Aquaten stoves come in several types:
— AOTV-6 type 00 — AOTV-11 type 01 — AOTV-14 type 02 — AOTV-16 type 03 — AOTV-19 type 04
They differ from each other in size, power, combustion chamber volume, and weight. Selected according to the area of the heated room. The smallest will heat up to 100 m3, the largest up to 1000 m3.
Technical characteristics of a long-burning furnace with a water circuit Breneran-Aquaten
Technical characteristics of Breneran-Aquaten
Almost any solid fuel is suitable for the Breneran-Aquaten stove: firewood, peat, cardboard, wood chips and sawdust, except coal and coke. It must be remembered that for the correct operation of such a stove, you need to ensure that when lighting the lower chamber is completely filled with fuel. In this case, the manufacturer guarantees operation on one load of solid fuel for up to 8-10 hours.
Using the water circuit of the Breneran furnace
Such a long-burning stove can operate in both open and closed heating systems. For a closed system, you need to purchase additionally and install the following equipment into the system:
- circulation pump - membrane expansion tank - safety group (safety valve and air vent, as well as pressure gauge)
For proper use of the stove in systems with natural circulation, it is necessary to observe a certain slope of the heating system pipes. As well as an open type expansion tank, which will need to be placed at the highest point of the system.
Everything is shown in more detail in the photo diagram below.
Installation diagram of the Breneran-Aquaten stove in an open heating system
Advantages of the Breneran-Aquaten furnace with a water circuit
— high operating efficiency in long-term burning mode — the ability to work in open and closed heating systems — the ability to combine with cast iron radiators without converting the old system to plastic (polypropylene) — affordable price from 15,000 rubles
Disadvantages of the Breneran-Aquaten stove
- not aesthetically pleasing - not recommended to be combined with modern aluminum radiators - a number of conditions for operation in gas generation mode (fully filled volume of the loading chamber, adjustment of dampers)
Total
A long-burning stove with a water circuit, Breneran, can be suitable for rooms of different sizes. But such a stove will not look very aesthetically pleasing at home. A special boiler room is ideal for it; you can also use it to heat a production workshop or garage, etc.
For heating a private home, I would still advise considering other, more modern options for long-burning stoves with a water circuit . For example, domestic Cooper boilers have proven themselves well. Or consider imported analogues, but in this case the price of the stove will be higher, and significantly. Therefore, you will have to choose. And finally, a short video review.
Efficiency compared to gas heating
Today, gas heating is undoubtedly the best in terms of cost of operation and ease of use. However, in some ways it still loses to Buleryan:
- A gas boiler cannot be connected without the approval of the gas utility.
- The operation of a gas boiler depends on the operation of the gas supply system, while Buleryan is completely autonomous.
Gas fuel is poisonous and explosive. Moreover, due to its volatility, it can easily spread throughout the room. Buleryan in this regard does not pose any danger.
Under the Breneran (formerly Buleryan) brand, a whole range of heat generators are produced, differing in power, purpose and, accordingly, price. Let's consider several options:
Burelyan stove with cooking burners
The unit has a weight of 60 kg and dimensions 455x620x555 mm. Designed to heat a room with a volume of up to 100 cubic meters. m.
Cost: 8 thousand rubles.
Long-burning furnaces (gas generators)
They are designed to heat rooms with a volume of 100 to 1000 cubic meters. m.
The smallest oven has dimensions 640x436x605 mm (weighs 52 kg), the largest - 950x676x1505 mm (weighs 235 kg).
Cost: from 8.3 thousand rubles. up to 35 thousand rubles.
Buleryan stove with water circuit
The line includes models with a power range from 6 to 35 kW. The dimensions of the smallest are 700x450x650 mm (weighs 57 kg), the largest are 1030x770x1200 (weighs 160 kg).
Average cost – 41 thousand rubles.
