  • A01. Blockage due to lack of flame. There are several possible reasons - problems with the gas supply in the main line, the gas supply valve to the boiler is closed, the burner nozzles are severely clogged. Find out if there is gas in the line, clean the burner and nozzles.
  • A02. Overheating of the heat exchanger indicates a lack of water. Check the operation of the circulation pump and the coolant pressure, add fluid to the system.
  • A03. High pressure in the chimney indicates blockage of the outlet with ice, frost, and soot accumulation. Possible weather conditions - strong gusty winds.
  • A 04. A drop in coolant pressure may be caused by a lack of liquid. Check the system for leaks and repair if found.
  • A05. Problems with the DHW line thermistor can be eliminated by replacing the sensor.
  • A06. A failed heating circuit thermistor must be replaced immediately.
  • E33. It is necessary to swap the electrodes in the power plug. Beretta boilers are phase-dependent and do not work if the phase wire is incorrectly connected.
  • E46. Exceeding the permissible temperature of the coolant indicates problems in the circulation of the liquid. You should check the operating mode of the circulation pump.
  • The bell symbol (bell, p) is flashing. This is a signal from the chimney pressure sensor, indicating that there is an obstacle to the exit of smoke, or the formation of ice or frost at the pipe outlet.

IMPORTANT!

The Beretta boiler error is reset by pressing the shutdown button and turning the boiler back on after 5-6 seconds.

Other faults

Other damage may also occur. If you smell gas in the room where the boiler is located, you need to turn off the boiler and all electrical devices. Open the window and call emergency services. Does not start (does not ignite) - reasons and solution

A boiler failure during startup can be caused by various reasons, which can be determined either by the corresponding error code or by independently checking the condition of the boiler. The simplest option is the lack of gas in the main line.

This problem is external and can only be solved by contacting the gas service . The gas supply valve on the unit itself may be closed. There is another reason for ignition failure - reverse polarity of the power wires. It is displayed on the display as code E33.

The solution to the problem is to reconnect the wires . This situation can arise even after some period of normal operation of the boiler, if any work was done on the power supply panel and the phase and neutral were mistakenly swapped.

If you cannot find the reason for the failure to ignite the boiler, you should contact a service workshop.

The boiler does not turn on - there is no indication

Almost all modern gas boilers are equipped with a control board and an information panel with a liquid crystal display or LED indicators. If there is no indication, first of all you need to make sure that power is supplied to the boiler. Typically, the electrical connection of the boiler is carried out through a separate “automatic machine” - check whether it is turned on or not.

The surest way to make sure that power is supplied to the boiler is to check with a multimeter in voltmeter mode the presence of 220V at the connection point to the boiler board. If there is no voltage, it is necessary to localize and eliminate the problem. In real life, it happens that someone in the household simply pulls the plug from the socket.

Safety fuses

It is also worth paying attention to the location of the fuses. In some boilers, depending on the model (for example, Ariston, Buderus, Vaillant), the fuses are located on the board itself, and in some, before they are connected to the board

If there are no problems with the electrical connection to the boiler, you should check the integrity of the fuses (with the same multitester in the “continuity” mode).

If the fuses are intact and there is 220 volts at the control points, it is likely that the boiler does not turn on due to a malfunction of the control electronics.

If during the inspection it turns out that the fuses have blown, then there was at least a problem with the power supply. In this case, it would be correct to first conduct research on the actuators (fan, pump, priority valve) and boiler wiring for a short circuit. However, in practice, even representatives of specialized organizations simply replace the fuses with good ones and check the boiler in operation. If the fuses blow again, then sequentially turn off the high-voltage parts of the boiler to identify the problem area (this is not a recommendation for action! This approach is not entirely correct).

Several spare fuses are usually supplied with the boiler.

If the fuses blow due to damage to one of the actuators, it must be replaced (or the cause of the short circuit must be eliminated). In the case where it is proven that the mechanisms (and wiring) are in good working order, the control board itself remains. Blown fuses indicate that there was an unacceptable load on the electronics (thunderstorm, pulsed power surge in the network), so the cause of the malfunction may also be a short circuit on the board itself.

Water (moisture) getting on the board

Water ingress is one of the most unpleasant situations. Although the board is in a protective case, water may get inside due to leakage or condensation. Often it gets into the box through the wires. Water ingress almost always causes damage to the board, in most cases irreparable. Characteristic stains and oxidation will be visible on the board due to water.

Varistor and power supply

Often, if the boiler board is damaged, burnt or charred elements can be visually detected on it. A varistor is a protective element of the board that is installed at the input of the circuit. In most cases, this is a blue round part (but not necessarily). When the rated load is exceeded, the varistor is destroyed and opens the circuit. In some cases, if the varistor helped prevent damage to the electronics, it is enough to bite it out to eliminate the gap in the circuit

Important! Although the board circuit will work without a varistor, it should be remembered that the varistor is a protective device and the correct solution would be to replace it. The power supply is a microcircuit that is also damaged primarily during pulsed power surges or during a thunderstorm

If cracks or damage are visible, the boiler board will likely need to be diagnosed and repaired.

Display board

For some boiler models (Vaillant, Ariston, Navien), the control unit consists of a main board and an information board (display board). The boiler may also not turn on if the display board is broken. The display board, unlike the main one, is cheaper, but most often cannot be repaired. In this case, the fault can only be identified by replacing a known good part.

If the gas boiler is working, there is an indication on the display, but it does not start or produces errors, further diagnostics are required.

How to check sensors

All Beretta boiler sensors are part of the self-diagnosis system. They not only perform control functions, but are themselves objects of observation.

This means that if any sensor fails, short circuits or breaks the wires, the corresponding error code will immediately appear on the display of the boiler control panel. The system polls sensors automatically at the moment of switching on; no special actions are required from the user .

Most of them are thermistors that respond to changes in temperature conditions or when indicators exceed the limits established by the operating mode. The design of the elements is simple; replacement, if necessary, is not difficult and does not take much time.

It is not recommended to change any elements of the boiler yourself; you must call a technician from the service center.

Beretta City

The Beretta City boiler is equipped with lights, as well as a display that shows possible errors. Two light diodes installed on the central control panel are configured to notify of possible faults.

The green light blinks once every 3.5 seconds

This means that the unit is stopped and in standby mode. The burner is off.

The light bulb blinks once every half second

This means that the Beretta boiler stopped due to an accident. In this case, several types of breakdowns are possible. The device stopped at a signal from the hydraulic pressure switch; the stop lasted no more than 10 minutes. Stop by signals from the smoke exhaust pressure switch. The stop lasts no more than 10 minutes. The unit is operational and is currently in an intermediate state before ignition. When this error code appears, the device is in standby mode. As soon as conditions for full operation are restored, the device is put into operation. If after the set time the operation is not restored, the stop will change from temporary to emergency. In this case, a red light will be added to the green LED, located on the same control panel.

The green light blinks quickly, once every 0.1 seconds

SARA function input/output (automatic room temperature setting system). The automatic control system is activated if the temperature controller responsible for the temperature in the heating system switches to auto mode. In this case, the boiler automatically sets the water temperature, based on the readings of the thermostat that measures the temperature in the room. After the water reaches the set temperature, 20 minutes are counted down. If during this time the thermostat continues to send a signal that the room temperature is lower than the required one, the unit will automatically set the temperature of the water supplied for heating by 5 degrees more. After another 20 minutes, the device again compares the set temperature in the room and the signal coming from the thermostat. If the temperature is again insufficient, a new increase in water heating follows by 5 degrees. After the second increase in temperature, the system will automatically return the settings to those specified by the user. And this will be repeated until the temperature in the room reaches the required value.

The green lamp is on continuously

The Beretta boiler is operating normally. The flame is present.

A red light always indicates that the device has been stopped in an emergency. Various indications of this diode indicate the type of fault.

Red LED lights up continuously

There is no flame. After the end of the transition stage in the operation of the boiler, a signal came from the smoke removal pressure switch. The NTC sensor in the heating system is broken. The red light is flashing

The green light and red LED flash simultaneously

The pump does not work - what to do?

If a failure of the circulation pump is noticed, it is necessary to stop the system and call a technician.

There can be several reasons for failure, from power problems to mechanical problems . The first reason is determined by testing and checking the condition of the pump motor.

The second reason can be detected by checking the condition of the moving parts of the pump, the absence of difficulties in rotating or moving parts of the mechanism, breakage or wear of gears and other elements.

The decision to repair or replace the pump is made based on the results of an examination of the performance and condition of the unit parts . If the forecast for repair work is favorable, the pump is restored, otherwise a complete replacement is necessary.

How to clean the heat exchanger

Beretta boilers are equipped with either separate or bithermal (combined) heat exchangers. In the first case, flushing gives a greater effect; the second type of heat exchangers is difficult to flush due to the design features.

There are two washing methods:

  • Mechanical . Requires disconnecting the heat exchanger from the boiler. The results of such washing are not particularly successful, since it is extremely difficult to clean the internal surfaces mechanically.

The draft and blast air are adjusted using a gas analyzer. For example, for an oil-fuel boiler, combustion products must contain: CO up to 200 ppm; O2 from 3.5 to 5.5 ppm; CO2 from 11.5 to 13.5 ppm.

An excessively high temperature in the combustion chamber indicates poor draft, so adjustments must be made.

Excessive consumption of fuel may indicate a deterioration in its quality or the formation of scale on water heating surfaces. To prevent damage, the boiler should be descaled and an electromagnetic converter installed to reduce water hardness.

If the temperature of the coolant at the boiler outlet does not rise, there may be several reasons: the draft and blast are incorrectly adjusted, scale formation, or a malfunction in the system automation.

Water hammer inside the boiler can occur due to low-quality gas fuel or “airing” of the heating system. To troubleshoot problems, it is necessary to adjust the draft and install an automatic air vent.

The burner does not turn on - there may be several reasons: if it is a liquid fuel unit, the voltage to the engine may have gone out, the parameter is not normal, or the blocking does not allow starting for safety reasons.

The burner turns on and then locks out. Reasons: the ignition electrodes are not adjusted, the insulation of the electrodes is broken, the software controller is faulty, fuel supply is impossible (clogged, missing, malfunctioning).

While the boiler is operating, the ignition is switched on. The cause of this phenomenon may be a dirty photocell or faulty automation.

Uneven pulsating combustion can be caused by too much blowing air pressure.

The formation of heavy soot indicates an incorrect draft/blown setting or poor fuel quality.
