  4. Repairing a heating radiator with your own hands - apply cold welding to the fabric base and wrap the leak area.
  5. For better sealing, it is recommended to secure the patch with a mounting clamp. If this is not possible due to the design of the battery, we apply an additional layer of cold welding.

After repairing the heating battery, you can reconnect it to the general heating system. But this should be done only after the cold weld has completely dried.

Carrying out such a repair of a heating radiator with your own hands will only temporarily solve the problem. The best option for restoring the functionality of the radiator is to replace the section or use electric (argon) welding.

After completing the restoration work, remove the air plugs from the radiator by opening the Mayevsky valve.

Before the start of the season

Before the start of the season, it is necessary to regulate the system according to a certain algorithm. First, the valves at the heating system inlet are opened. Then water from the heating network is supplied to the pipelines - this happens with all equipment intended for heating.

When there is water inside the pipes, experts examine the lines for heating the lower sections of the risers. If any of the system elements gets very hot, the taps are closed. The main objective of the measures is to create the same temperature conditions for all risers operating within a particular system.

Following the risers, uniform heating must be ensured for heating equipment on each floor of the house. As in the previous case, taps in very hot areas are covered. The required temperature is controlled in the central section of the device section, which is furthest from the riser.

Before performing independent repairs of heating pipes without welding, you should shut off the flow of coolant in this area. Then the depressurization area is cleaned. The next step in repairing heating pipes in an apartment is installing a rubber gasket. It is wound in several layers. The pressure should be tight and tight. Mounting clamps are used for fixation.

More efficient repair of heating pipes without welding can be done using a special kit. It includes a clamp and a rubberized gasket. It differs from homemade ones in the speed of installation and service life.

It is purchased in advance, as it is designed for pipes of a certain diameter. If the cross-section of the line is different, it is recommended to buy several different sets.

Repair of polymer heating pipes in an apartment can be carried out using a welding machine. A set of mounting fittings and a piece of pipe of this diameter must be available. To carry out restoration work, the following actions are performed:

Heating boilers are the most complex element of heat supply. It is almost impossible to restore their functionality in the event of a breakdown on your own. Therefore, before repairing diesel heating boilers or their other analogues, you should analyze all possible consequences.

How to obtain permission to install and replace a gas boiler

To obtain permission to install and replace a gas boiler, you will need to go through several stages of registration and approval of documents. Even if the installation and placement of boiler equipment is carried out without violations, in accordance with SP 62.13330.2011, registration will require material investments and time costs. Knowledge of the basic current regulations will help facilitate the registration process.

What is needed to install a gas boiler

The first stage of installation is to determine whether the room meets the minimum standards for the installation of boiler equipment.

When determining the permissibility of installing a boiler, SP 89 is taken into account.

13330 (SNiP II-35-76) “Boiler installations”, as updated after 2015, with amendments No. 1-9 (addition No. 7, published in 2012, establishes requirements for the construction of gas mini-boiler houses in a private residential building, industrial enterprises, household, public, administrative buildings).

There are several restrictions:

  • By type of room - installation is allowed exclusively in non-residential premises, fenced off from the rest of the room and corridor by a door. According to SNiP 2.04.08-87 (cancelled), installation in the bathroom and sanitary facilities was prohibited, but in regulatory documents under the number SP 62.13330 (SNiP 42-01-2002), this instruction is canceled.
  • In terms of area - as a rule, obtaining permission to install a heating boiler with an open combustion chamber is more problematic. This is due to the peculiarities of the operation of boiler equipment that burns indoor air. The standard is that the area should be at least 8 m², there must be supply and exhaust ventilation and a window with a window. To install a turbocharged boiler, it is enough that the total volume of the room is not less than 9 m³. It is allowed to cover the turbo boiler with a decorative furniture facade.

If the premises meet the requirements specified in the building codes, they begin to draw up design and other documentation.

When obtaining permission to install boiler equipment, there is a need to install a gas meter. Although this requirement is not mandatory, regulatory authorities will not issue permission to install a boiler without a meter.

What permissions are needed

Permission to use a gas boiler must be obtained from the regulatory organization operating in the given region. Usually this is Gorgaz or Oblgaz. To complete all the necessary documents, you will need to go through several stages of registration:

  • Specifications for connection to the gas main - the expansion will indicate that the technical conditions of the building and the parameters of the gas pipeline allow the connection of boiler equipment. To produce the specifications it will take from several weeks to a month. The document must indicate the estimated volume of gas consumed. The issuance of technical specifications is, in fact, permission to develop and manufacture a project.
  • The gasification project can be carried out by any specialized institution that has a license to carry out the work. In order not to encounter problems in the future, it is better for a specialist from Gore or Regional Gas to handle the manufacturing. Documentation is prepared within a period of a week to several months, depending on the specialist’s workload.
  • Permission to install a gas boiler is issued after approval of the documentation in Gorgaz. The following documents are submitted to the supervisory authority:
      Rostechnadzor permit and other technical documentation for the installed boiler.
  • THAT.
  • Gas supply project and building plan.
  • Coordination is carried out within up to 3 months. If the organization issuing the permit considers that the technical specifications or design were not completed correctly, documentation is returned to the consumer with a detailed description of the necessary adjustments and changes.

Is it possible to install it yourself?

In fact, the joint venture stipulates that installation work must be performed by a licensed and certified specialist. Few people know, but this standard applies exclusively to work on connecting to the gas main. You can connect the boiler yourself, provided you have a technical education.

When deciding to install a boiler yourself or involve specialists, several nuances are taken into account:

  • When installing a condensing type boiler, you will need to connect the unit to the electrical network and connect the condensate removal system without disruption.
  • Perform a number of approvals during installation. Additional approval of the chimney will be required when installing a gas heating boiler. How to replace a gas boiler with a new one

It would seem that it could be simpler than replacing an already installed boiler with a new one. The design documentation has already been prepared, the specifications have been completed. But, not everything is so simple. The fact is that, according to existing requirements, replacement is equivalent to redevelopment of the premises and requires re-approval.

The re-registration process begins with an application for replacement submitted to the gas distribution organization. To obtain technical specifications, you will need to submit the following documents:

  1. Documents evidencing ownership of the house and surrounding area.
  2. Passport.

After receiving the application, Gorgaz will put the boiler in the queue for shutdown. Further work is performed in the following order:

  1. Removing the old boiler.
  2. Obtaining technical specifications.
  3. Making a new project.
  4. Coordination of documentation and connection.

Replacing a boiler is faster and does not require the same financial costs as when connecting a gas boiler room for the first time.

Is it possible to replace a gas boiler yourself?

It is impossible to replace a gas boiler yourself, without contacting regulatory organizations, and is punishable by a fine. In practice, a large number of owners of private houses still change their boiler equipment without approval.

After violations are identified, they simply pay a fine and pay for the production of a new project. Provided that the power of the thermal unit has not been changed upward, usually no approval will be required. Legalizing a replacement is often easier than completing all the documents in accordance with current legislation.

Is a new project needed when replacing a gas boiler?

The project specifies the model, type and power of the heating unit. In addition, each boiler has its own serial number, indicated in the technical passport and included in the project documentation. Therefore, when replacing, you will need to make a new project indicating new data.

You must go through the following registration steps again:

  • Obtain technical specifications for replacing a gas boiler. At this stage, the gas distribution company can change the performance of the unit based on the actual living area of ​​the house.
  • Make a new project.
  • Obtain approval by providing a gas distribution project, technical specifications, and the results of checking the chimney duct.
  • Replace the old unit with a new one.

When replacing an old gas boiler with a new one, the following documents are needed:

  • Passport.
  • Documents of the owner of the residential premises.
  • Technical passport for gas equipment.
  • Technical conditions.

Standard prices for replacing already installed gas equipment are 1000-1500 rubles, depending on the region.

Is it possible to replace a gas boiler with an electric one?

Replacement is quite possible, but for this you will have to obtain permission from another organization involved in electricity supply. Documents are needed only if the electric boiler has a power of more than 8 kW. Up to this performance limit, the unit belongs to ordinary household water heating devices of the boiler type, therefore, it is installed without permits or approvals.

For productive electric boilers, a separate power supply line will be required. You will need to make a project and obtain permission to increase the amount of electricity allocated. Separately, you need to write a statement about disconnecting the gas boiler from the main line.

Installing a boiler without permission is a strict violation of existing standards and is equivalent to redevelopment of a residential premises. This omission is punishable by penalties imposed after they are identified during the next inspection by gas workers.

Repair of circulation pumps


To increase the speed of movement of the coolant in the heat supply, a circulation pump is installed. Its breakdown will not only worsen heat transfer, but will also negatively affect the performance of the entire system.

Despite the apparent complexity of the design, you can repair the heating pump yourself. To do this, first determine the cause of the problem and develop the optimal scheme to eliminate it. Before repairing the heating circulation pump, you should turn off the system and wait until the coolant cools down. This can be avoided if a bypass is installed on the pump unit. It is enough to redirect the movement of hot water along the spare circuit.

Self-repair of heating pumps is carried out only after detailed familiarization with the design features of a particular model. Then the device should be dismantled to further restore functionality. There are several causes of malfunctions, after identifying which repair work on the heating pump is carried out with your own hands.

Let's look at the most common of them, as well as ways to solve the problem:

  • The power plant does not work. First you need to check the condition of the terminals - the fuse on them often blows due to power surges in the network. The solution is to replace the fuse;
  • Increased noise during operation. To repair heating pumps in this case, it is necessary to remove air from the pipe. It is best to install an automatic air vent in advance;
  • Strong vibration during operation. Most likely the bearing on the shaft has failed. To repair the heating circulation pump, you will need to replace it;
  • Incorrect blade rotation. The connection phase should be checked, as well as the correct installation of the pump;
  • A little pressure. Most often this is due to a clogged filter. In this case, it will not be necessary to repair the heat supply pump, but to clean the filter.

After long-term operation, some pump components lose their hermetic properties - the geometry of the impeller and shaft changes. To repair a heating circulation pump, the condition of these elements is first checked. Almost all models are designed to replace components. There should be a sealing lubricant on the gaskets and pipes of the pump. If it is missing, it must be reapplied.

Problems and solutions

Emergency repairs

  • There is no heating through the riser. The work begins with checking the condition of valves and discharges: often the cause is uncoordinated repair work carried out by residents and hired workers.   • The locknut in front of the radiator is leaking. When the riser is dropped, the threads are rewound. If it is destroyed by corrosion, the connection on the liner is replaced by welding or manual threading.
  • Heavy leakage between sections of radiators. Its cause can only be a burst nipple. After resetting the risers, the radiator is dismantled and rebuilt.
  • The flush valve does not close after flushing the radiator. The riser is reset, after which the gasket on the tap is changed.
  • The entrance heating has been defrosted and hot water is supplied to the entrance. After disconnecting the riser, the damaged sections are dismantled, and the remaining part of the radiator is started. If necessary, the emergency service performs welding work to restore connections, registers, etc.
